Having crossed the lines at Flirey and flew to tl 
northeast of ThiaucourteThen came down to 400 mt; 
and circled over Thiaucourt and Beney. There was! 
considerable activity of troops in region of Ben- 
ey and Thiaucourt. There was no movement of troof 
on road from Fresnes-Regnieville or Beney-Essey, 

or minor roads in that region. There were 3 cam- 
iones on Fresnes road,region the Bois de Haudron 
^viiles. Noticed enemy artillery flashes in Bois 

de Thiaucourt on the eastern edge. Flew down ove 
Rupt de Mad to Buvezin. I was shot at by several 
machines guns in the region of Beney and Bouill- 
onville. Our artillery was also heavily shooting 
and shelling the Bois de Thiaucourt ani the open 
‘ground around Beney and south of Beney. Recroes 
the lines at Richecourt. Lt.Hunter reports havi 
encountered enemy bi ‘age observation plane over 
Xivray at 10:05, Chased sife-vack intoenemy lin 

firing about 50 rd#,no apparent results. At.10:1 
saw considerable truck movement on road from Boi
